Recently, at the working face of Panel 5 in Baode Coal Mine, Shanxi Province, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute completed an ultra-long-distance fixed-point sealed coring technology test at a depth of 1328 meters underground. This technology has achieved kilometer-level in situ, pressure-maintained, and sealed sampling of target coal seams, marking a breakthrough in China's field of accurate long-distance underground gas sampling and providing a new solution for the accurate measurement of regional coal seam gas content.
Underground accurate long-distance gas sampling has long been hindered by technical bottlenecks, including short coring lengths and susceptibility to coal-sample distortion. Traditional methods make it difficult to obtain pressure-maintained coal cores at distances over 1000 meters, leading to inaccuracies in key gas parameters.
To address this challenge, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute has developed specialized coring technology and equipment. Using innovative processes and sealed structures, it resolved critical issues such as ultra-long borehole section transportation, pressure maintenance, and sealing, achieving accurate sealed coring in underground horizontal boreholes over 1,000 meters for the first time.
The deep coal samples obtained from this test are well preserved, laying a solid foundation for accurate laboratory measurements of gas parameters. This breakthrough has made it possible to directly acquire real gas data from long-distance underground areas, thereby significantly improving the scientific rigor and efficiency of gas control.
Next, we will accelerate the technology's use in similar high-gas coal mine operations, providing critical technical support for coal mine safety and coalbed methane development.
