Launched by Elsevier in December 2016, CiteScore is a journal citation evaluation metric released based on the Scopus database, with statistical calculations conducted over a four-year cycle. Its formula divides the total number of valid citations of all publications in a journal within the statistical period by the total volume of valid papers published by the same journal.
The metric covers multiple publication types, including research articles, reviews, and conference papers, and includes subject quartile and percentile data. CiteScore is widely used worldwide for journal citation statistics.
