Relying on the key technology of fine geological exploration and CBM resources development, and using rich scientific research achievements and experiences accumulated in coal geology, CBM test evaluation and geophysical exploration to develop technical service, engineering design and project contracting, Xi’an Research Institute has formed a coal & CBM resources exploration engineering industry integrating exploration design and construction (drilling, seismics, logging, testing), analysis and testing, and comprehensive research.
Xi’an Research Institute begun the CBM testing in the 1990s, has completed gas content tests in more than 2 100 wells and well testing in more than 1 250 CBM wells respectively. More than 30 coal exploration projects has been undertook in Pubai, Binchang, Wubao, Yonglong, Yushen, Yuheng in Shaanxi Province, and Weizhou in Ningxia and other countries such as Mongolia and Pakistan since 2000. In addition, Xi’an Research Institute has carried out over 60 projects of searching for coal through surface seismic exploration in Laoyeling, Beimafang, Gaojiabao, Yangjiaping in Shaanxi Province, Nongnaimiao in Inner Mongolia, Xiayihankou in Henan Province, and Xinjiang etc.
