From "Manual Spraying" To "Intelligent Coating": Empowering The "Three - Proof" Protection of Geophysical Exploration Instruments Through Intelligent Manufacturing

Mine geophysical exploration instruments operate for long periods in the humid and corrosive environment of coal mines. The "three-proof" protection of circuit boards against moisture, salt spray, and mildew is crucial for ensuring the stable operation of the instruments. In the production process of geophysical exploration instruments, the "three-proof" effect of circuit boards has long relied on the traditional manual spraying process. Incomplete spraying coverage or uneven thickness can lead to unstable protection effects and low work efficiency. Fluctuations in environmental temperature and humidity can also directly affect the curing effect of the "three-proof" paint. As the operating environment for geophysical exploration instruments evolves from underground roadways to more challenging boreholes, the previous manual spraying process cannot meet current requirements.

To solve this problem, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute organized process technicians to develop an integrated upgrade solution of "material + equipment + process". Regarding materials, a UV-type "three-proof" paint was selected. This material can withstand temperature cycles from -55°C to 130°C, and the dry film thickness can be controlled between 60 and 200 μm. Regarding equipment, an integrated intelligent "three-proof" coating workstation with functions of "feeding - coating - inspection - curing - collecting" was introduced. By scanning a code, the program can be retrieved. The three-axis linkage enables precise control of the coating path and speed. Curing is rapidly achieved under illumination in a special wavelength band. The workstation automatically detects the coating effect and uploads the data to the MOM system in real-time. In terms of process, key process parameters such as spray distance, moving speed, and curing curves are strictly controlled and standardized in the coating program. The system automatically conducts 100% inspection to ensure the coating quality.

The efficiency of the new intelligent "three-proof" process has increased by more than 80%. Currently, intelligent coating has been achieved for 16 types of core circuit boards. After subjecting the circuit boards coated with the new process to a 72-hour immersion test, their functions and performance remain normal. Moreover, there is no volatilization during the coating process, achieving zero emissions.

With the advancement of intelligent manufacturing, the "three-proof" process technology for the manufacturing of geophysical exploration instruments has been upgraded from an "experience-based" model to an "intelligence-based" one. The product quality has become more stable, and production efficiency has significantly improved. Leveraging intelligent manufacturing to enhance quality and efficiency empowers the construction of a benchmark factory for the intelligent manufacturing of geophysical exploration instruments.
