Recently, China Coal Technology & Engineering Group held its second Brand Conference in Beijing. With its profound industry heritage and strong reputation, CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute was named an Excellent Brand Enterprise. In addition, the “Comprehensive Curtain Control Project for the ‘Wuhan Aquifer (Wuhan Formation)’ in the Coal Seam Roof of Zhuxianzhuang Coal Mine” was awarded as a Gold Project.
CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute, founded in 1956, is the only national key high-tech enterprise with outstanding comprehensive advantages in China’s coal geological support and safe mining sector. Its independently developed underground directional drilling technologies and equipment for coal mines have repeatedly set world records and been recognized as a Champion Product in China’s Manufacturing Sector by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute’s dynamic and intelligent detection technology for coal mining faces took the lead in China in building an integrated “borehole–drift–face–well” full-life-cycle geological support system, achieving real-time, dynamic seismic monitoring for the first time internationally and filling a key industry gap. It also released GeoGPT, the first large model for the geological vertical domain, enabling end-to-end intelligent decision-making from risk monitoring to production optimization. The “Nieshi” Transparent Geology Expert System has reshaped traditional geological survey and mapping workflows through next-generation information technologies. CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute’s technologies for mine water hazard prevention, control, and water resource protection and utilization have long led the industry. It has undertaken more than 90% of the country’s emergency rescue and control tasks for extremely large-scale coal mine water inrush disasters. Since 2010, it has participated in 59 mine water hazard emergency rescues, saving 50 lives and earnestly fulfilling the social responsibilities of a central SOE. Over the years, CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute has built a portfolio of products, projects, and technical services with strong brand influence.
In the Comprehensive Curtain Control Project for the “Wuhan Aquifer (Wuhan Formation)” in the Coal Seam Roof of Zhuxianzhuang Coal Mine, CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute innovatively proposed an integrated control approach featuring “curtain interception, dewatering mining, and dynamic monitoring”. Employing a curtain design principle characterized by “confined by top and bottom barriers, bounded at both ends, structurally bypassed, safe and economical”, the institute overcame key technical challenges and constructed a long-distance, deep-buried, ultra-thick, and extremely strong composite aquifer cutoff curtain. With a length of 3.2 km, width of 40 m, height of 80 m, burial depth of 220–550 m, and pressure-bearing capacity of 3.5 MPa, the project has been hailed as the “Underground Three Gorges Dam”. It reduced costs by more than 75% and improved efficiency by over 80%.
