Aimed at complex hydrogeological problems such as bedrock fissure water and cavern water faced by railway/highway tunnels excavation in southern China, Xi’an Research Institute has developed advanced 3D transient electromagnetic detection and forecast technology based on tunnel transient electromagnetic technology for small section in coal mines, which is suitable for large section in tunnels. It has been proved to accurately forecast spatial distribution of abnormal hydrogeology within 70 m ahead of tunneling face and 25 m of tunnel axis. It can also be used to detect grouting transformation result of water-rich structure ahead of tunneling.
Advanced 3D transient electromagnetic detection and forecast technology has been promoted and applied in Jingxi Tunnel of Nan Sanlong Express Railway and Guzhang Tunnel of Zhang Jihuai Railway, and has achieved good geological results.
