On Dec 22, 2019, rare water inrush and well flooding accident occurred in Gushan Iron Mine of China Baowu Iron and Steel Group. The water inrush occurred in the roadway, which was 273.5 meters away from the central point of the filling shaft. Instantaneous water flow reached 6340 m3/h, which exceeded the mine’s maximum drainage capacity. Roadway and equipment were flooded. After receiving technical support request from the company, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute attached great importance to it and responded quickly. Facing difficulties such as high hardness of iron ore vein, broken and collapsed surrounding rock, serious geomagnetic interference, and serious formation leakage, technical team actively worked out a scheme and realize the drainage of the well and accurate penetration detection and treatment via dynamic water aggregate grouting closure by adjusting construction technology, plugging combined with top leakage drilling, double non-magnetic measurement while drilling, optimizing drilling assembly, surface interference test, etc. Then successfully water drainage was achieved. The project set a milestone for CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute to conduct mine water disaster control in non-coal mine field.
