New Breakthrough Of Long-Distance Sealed Coring Technology In Soft Coal Seam

Recently, CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute, in cooperation with Huai River Energy Group, successfully tested the technology and equipment of long-distance sealed coring in Pan Yidong Coal Mine. The coal sample is tightly packed and the desorption capacity is up to 3600 ml. The quality of coal sample is up to 1.1 kg. A new breakthrough of long-distance sealed coring technology in broken soft coal seam has been achieved.

For a long time, due to the lack of effective gas content measurement technology in crushed soft coal seam, short borehole coring distance and inaccurate determination of gas content in soft broken coal seam has always been a problem restricting the safe and efficient production of the mine. Following the successful application of the long-distance sealed coring technology in hard coal seam, CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute focused on the needs of advanced gas detection in large areas of crushed soft coal seams. In view of the special geological conditions in the Huainan mining area, as well as the practical problems such as the vulnerability of the soft and high gassy coal seam to water and borehole collapse, which affects the borehole construction, project team innovatively puts forward the long-distance dry-sealed coring method for crushed soft coal seam, and realizes the long-distance fixed-point, in-situation sealed coring and precise determination of gas content in crushed soft coal seam.

The application of this technology provides a large area and an effective means of accurately detecting and gas evaluating in the soft coal seam, solving the contradiction of the "draining-digging-mining" replacement in soft and outburst prone coal seam, and realizing the co-excavation of coal and gas.
