On December 15, 2021, a water flooding accident occured in a secrectly mined coal mine in Xiaoyi town of Shanxi Province. After the accident, the State Bureau of Mine Safety Supervision asked CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute to arrange experts to provide technical support for rescue as soon as possible. CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute immediately launched the emergency plan and arranged skilled and experienced water prevention experts to rush to mine site.
At about 4 am on December 16, three experts from CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute, Nan Shenghui, Tian Gan and Lin Xudong, arrived at the scene to provide technical support for rescue work. Facing with difficulties such as lacking of data and drawings, the experts analyzed the hydrogeological conditions of surrounding mines by asking the well lifting personnel, and proposed that the permeable water source is from the goaf. The expert group judged that there is about 20m air column in the underground uphill roadway, and the underground personnel have the living conditions, Due to the inaccurate orientation of underground roadway, it is impossible to determine the construction position of ground drilling. The expert group has formulated a rescue plan focusing on drainage and supplemented by excavation and underground drilling.
With the joint efforts of the expert group and the rescue team, the water level began to drop at 18pm on 16th, with an average hourly water level drop of about 30cm. At 12pm of 17th, all the accumulated water in the shaft and uphill roadway was drained. Trapped miners were contacted. At 14:15, the first trapped person ascened the well smoothly. Subsequently, 20 trapped people was rescued one after another. After the rescue work, the relevant leaders of the emergency management department and Shanxi provincial government expressed their gratitude to the experts of CCTEG Xi'an Research Institue for their strong support in the rescue work. Over the years, CCTEG Xi'an Researh Institue had deeply cultivated the technical innovation research and application of mine water prevention and control, actively participated in the emergency rescue int the field of mine safety production in a highly responsible spirit, gave full play and contributed scientific and technological strength.
