Recently, at the "AI Innovation for Industrial Win-Win" Corporate AI Industry Development Forum of the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) officially released the first batch of 40 strategic high-value AI scenarios for central state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Among them, the "AI + Multi-level Transparent Geology for Mines" independently developed and built by CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute was successfully selected.

"AI + Multi-level Transparent Geology for Mines" leverages the comprehensive advantages of CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute in four key specialties: geology, hydrogeology, drilling, and geophysical exploration. It uses large-scale artificial intelligence models to convert geological data and expert knowledge into a geological knowledge base. Through the three-tier technical framework of "data-information-knowledge," it constructs a full-information geological model and integrates scenario-based geological and engineering information. This provides accurate, dynamic geological details and analytical applications across multiple scenarios, including mine planning and design, intelligent mining, and disaster prevention and control. The successful inclusion this time marks that the technology has achieved remarkable results in the integrated innovation of artificial intelligence and mine geological support. It provides a replicable model and experience for mining enterprises and related industries, and promotes the application and implementation of artificial intelligence technology in the mining field.

In recent years, CCTEG has actively responded to the call of "AI Empowerment for Industrial Renewal" from the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), engaged in the "AI +" initiative, and explored new paths for the in-depth integrated development of artificial intelligence technology and coal mine geological support technology. In December 2023, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute released "Xiaowu", China's first large model in the vertical field of geology. This model integrates an extensive geological knowledge base and is capable of deeply understanding and applying professional knowledge in the field. In December 2024, the "Geological Vertical Large Model" was selected as the only technical foundation in the coal industry for the typical application cases of artificial intelligence empowering new-type industrialization released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), demonstrating the critical fundamental supporting role and leading position of this product in the industry. In June 2025, the "Xiaowu" Geological Vertical Large Model won the Silver Award for Innovative Achievements at the 3rd World Smart Mine Congress, promoting the development of new models and applications of "AI + Transparent Geology".


Next CCTEG will take this selection as an opportunity to continue strengthening technological innovation, focus on the needs of intelligent coal mine construction, expand AI application scenarios, and drive the integration of AI with geological support and mining equipment industrial technologies through innovations in industrial collaboration models. This will enable value extension and help upgrade the quality of traditional coal mine industries.
