Recently, the "Second Conference of the Fifth Council of the Informatization Branch and the Second Coal Industry Large Model Technology Application Seminar," hosted by the China National Coal Association, was held in Hefei, Anhui Province. The event focused on cutting-edge technologies for the deep integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and the coal industry, and released the Coal Industry Large Model Technology Application Achievements. Among these, the "Xiaowu" Geological Vertical Large Model, developed by CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute, was recognized as one of 23 major achievements for its innovation and practicality.
The "Xiaowu" Geological Vertical Large Model deeply integrates data from geological exploration and coal mine production safety. Through multi-source heterogeneous data fusion and dynamic modeling, it enables geological prediction and forecasting, intelligent mine map recognition, and multi-system intelligent collaboration, providing smart support for safe and efficient coal mine production. As China’s first vertical large model for the geological sector, "Xiaowu" was selected as a typical AI-enabled new industrialization application case by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

At the conference, CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute delivered a keynote report titled "Construction Technology of Geological Vertical Large Models and Its Application in Coal Mine Geological Assurance." The report highlighted that while traditional coal mine geological analysis relies heavily on manual experience and suffers from low efficiency, the "Xiaowu" large model overcomes these challenges through multi-modal data fusion, intelligent prediction and early warning, and multi-system collaborative innovation.
As a pioneer in AI applications for coal mining, CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute will continue to optimize the "Xiaowu" Geological Vertical Large Model, integrating digital twin and reinforcement learning technologies to enhance dynamic decision-making capabilities under complex geological conditions. Additionally, the institute will collaborate with universities and research institutions to promote industry standard development, ensuring transparency and safety in technological applications, and injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the coal industry.
