Recently, the 3rd World Smart Mine Conference, sponsored by the China Coal Society, was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. At the conference, the "Xiaowu" Geological Vertical Large Model project submitted by CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute won the Silver Award for Innovative Achievements, demonstrating its outstanding technical strength and innovation capability in smart mines.

The "Xiaowu" Geological Vertical Large Model, developed independently by CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute, is China's first industry-specific large model focused on mine geology. In 2024, it was selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a typical application case for artificial intelligence to empower new industrialization, and it is the only case specified in the technical base direction for the coal industry in Shaanxi Province. In 2025, it was released as one of the 23 crucial technical application achievements at the seminar on large model technology application in the coal industry hosted by the China National Coal Association.

"Xiaowu" deeply integrates multi-source data, such as geological exploration and coal mine production safety. It not only has basic capabilities such as knowledge Q&A and document companion reading, but also provides in-depth integration with the self-developed transparent geological guarantee system. By integrating heterogeneous multi-source data and dynamic modeling, the model has achieved functions such as intelligent geological prediction and forecasting, analysis and insight into production data, rapid diagnosis of equipment failures, and innovative collaboration across multiple systems. Users can interact with "Xiaowu" in natural language to assist with production planning and risk decision-making, providing comprehensive intelligent support for the safe and efficient production of coal mines.
As a technical leader in geological guarantee, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute will continuously optimize the "Xiaowu" large model, integrating it with digital twin and reinforcement learning technologies to enhance its dynamic decision-making capability under complex geological conditions. Meanwhile, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute has joined hands with multiple universities and research institutions to actively promote the formulation of industry standards, ensuring the transparency and safety of technical applications and injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of China's coal industry.
