Water hazard control project in Gansu Wan Sheng Inclined Mine

1. Introduction

The main, auxiliary and wind mine shaft are constructed with concrete masonry through quicksand layer, and the groundwater in this section is rich in SO42- and Cl-. The concrete of these three mine shaft shows corrosion and spalling in different degrees, which results in different degrees of water gushing, dousing and dripping at the top, sides and bottom of these mine shaft, especially in the quicksand layer. The coal mine used to grouting the mine shaft, but it is not effective for blocking water and it has seriously affected the structural safety.

2. Solutions

According to the principle of "blockage and drainage, combination of blockage and drainage, grouting in sequence", curtain grouting in the top and sides of these mine shafts was carried out without treatment in the floor, drainage was conducted in the concentrated water outlet so as to achieve the effect of no dripping water, no obvious seepage point in the top and the sides. The mixture of high sulphoaluminate resistant cement and other corrosion-resistant materials were used for grouting. In case of severe local corrosion and water seepage, the polymer chemical grout was used in filling by micro-osmotic pressure grouting. As part of the floor is not supported by concrete structure, the area with severe water inrush is treated with diversion channel and anti-corrosion material for drainage.


3. Construction situation

The whole project took 90 days, 130 meters were treated for the main mine shaft restoration, 111 meters for the auxiliary mine shaft and 103 meters for the air return shaft; 1491 cement mixed grouting hole were drilled, grout of 5434 m3 was injected, 993 polymer chemical grouting holes were drilled and 747 kg polymer chemical grout was injected, 2 drainage channels were built.

4. Achieved accomplishment

After the completion of the project, the concrete and grouting stone bodies of these three mine shaft were sampled. Each mine shaft was sampled by 9 holes, there were totally 27 coring holes and 54 samples were taken. The strength of grouting stone body has reached the requirement of "uniaxial unconfined compressive strength of 0.8mpa" in the bidding technical proposal, also has reached the design strength. There is no water gushing or dripping in the treatment areas of three mine shafts.
