Recently, the News Broadcast program of Shaanxi Satellite TV featured a special report on the ZDY25000LDK intelligent drilling rig independently developed by CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute. Dubbed the "Black Gold Pangolin," this high-end equipment showcases China's advanced capabilities in intelligent coal mine drilling. With its superior performance and innovative features, it is driving safety reforms and efficiency improvements in the mining industry.
As China's coalmining continues to move toward deeper depths and intelligent transformation, problems with traditional drilling rigs—such as low efficiency, unstable hole-forming quality, and high labor demand—have become increasingly prominent. To address these issues, the ZDY25000LDK intelligent drilling rig was developed. Equipped with advanced functions including an ultra-large torque output of 25,000 Nm, fully automatic drill pipe handling, real-time coal-rock identification while drilling, one-click automatic drilling, wireless remote control, and ground-based remote operation, it has successfully solved long-standing industry pain points and achieved the comprehensive goals of reducing workforce, improving efficiency, and enhancing safety. Currently, this drilling rig has been successfully applied in multiple mining areas, including Huainan, Huaibei, Shendong, Shaanxi Coal, and Pingmei. A large-scale, standardized demonstration site has also been established in Huaibei. It has not only set new industry records—such as a 200mm diameter for a single directional hole in roof strata, 300mm diameter for a single reaming operation, and a maximum hole depth of 701 meters—but has also been repeatedly selected into authoritative lists, including Shaanxi Province's First Set of Major Technical Equipment and the "Innovation China" Pilot Technology List, becoming a core equipment support for the intelligent construction of coal mines.
Under the guidance of the "Made in China 2025" initiative and the "Dual Circulation" strategy, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute is actively promoting the "going global" of this equipment. Targeting markets in major coal-producing countries such as Russia, Indonesia, and Australia, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute is striving to leap from single-equipment export to the export of an integrated industrial chain spanning "equipment + services" through international mining exhibitions, demonstration project construction, strategic cooperation, and in-depth services.
