Detection of goaf and ponding area in a mine of Shanxi Province by transient electromagnetic method
1. Introduction
It is planned to mine No.15 coal seam in the southwest of the mining area in the next stage of the mine. There are many old small mines in the southwest of the area. Some small coal mines have the possibility of mining beyond the boundary, and the situation of mining beyond the boundary is unknown.
2. Treatment solution
In this exploration, the transient electromagnetic sounding technology was used in the southwest mining boundary area of the mine to explore the goaf area of No. 15 coal seam in the survey area, providing reference for the layout of the mining face and the implementation of the exploration and drainage engineering.
2. Work situation
The grid spacing of TEM method was 40 m × 20 m, there were 48 survey lines, 2432 physical points and 1.42 km2 were controlled.

3.Achieved accomplishment
According to the detection results of the ground transient electromagnetic method, the gob abnormal area was delineated. Through the drilling verification, the five boreholes have exposed the gob formed by the small coal mines mining 15 coal seams across the boundary.
According to the results of TEM exploration, the drilling and drainage work has been carried out for each low resistance abnormal area, and good results have been achieved, which provides scientific basis for the prevention and control of water hazards in the underground tunnel driving and working face of the mining area.

Q1: Why do you use transient electromagnetic method to detect goaf area and water accumulation?
A: 1) TEM observation of pure secondary field is sensitive to the detection of water bearing / conducting structure, ponding structure and goaf, with small volume effect and high resolution.
2) The sedimentary sequence of the strata in the survey area is clear and the strata are relatively stable. Under the condition of normal stratigraphic combination, there is a fixed law of electrical property change in both the bedding and vertical directions, so it is expected to achieve better detection results.
