1. Introduction
Zhaozhuang mine field, located in Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, is a soft and low permeability coal seam. It is characterized by broken coal structure, poor permeability, high gas content and poor drainage effect. Gas disasters seriously restrict coal mine safety production. In order to effectively alleviate the hidden dangers of coal mine production safety, surface CBM development is required.
2. Treatment solution
In order to ensure the drilling rate of the target zone in the horizontal section of the CBM well, high-angle pilot hole (the well deviation is 70 ° , the pilot hole length is 200m, and the grouting sealing hole is backfilled after the pilot hole drilling is finished) is used to uncover the target zone before the horizontal well lands. By acquiring the target coal seam and overlying rock burial depth, lithology characteristics and logging while drilling response characteristics and other parameters, provide a basis for accurate geosteering drilling in the horizontal
3. Construction situation
In 2018,a group of staged fracturing horizontal coalbed methane (CBM) wells was implemented in Zhaozhuang minefield, Jincheng City, Shanxi Province. It is connected with 2017ZX-U-01V well in the range of 0.5 ~ 2m within the top boundary of 3 # Coal Seam. The horizontal section is 856m, the drilling rate of target seam is 90%. Casing completion is adopted.

The well is draining and depressurizing. Daily gas production exceeds 5000m3. Well bottom flowing pressure is 1.14 MPa., Vertical well casing pressure is 0.4 MPa, while horizontal well casing pressure is 1.17 MPa. It is expected that the wells will have very considerable gas production.

Q1:Why don’t use regular water drainage method to solve the problem?
A:In the early stage of coal mining, the actual amount of water drainage far exceeded the estimated amount. Regular method can’t solve the mine water problem. Besides, more drainage mains increased cost and environmental damage.
