1. Introduction
The Sanjiao CBM block is located in Lin County, Shanxi. It has the characteristics of simple structure, high CBM content, high CBM abundance, shallow buried depth and good CBM permeability. The gas saturation of CBM is over 85%, which is one of the best integrated CBM fields in China. In the construction of this block, there are strict requirements for the well quality, the rate of coal seam drilling, and drilling precision.
2. Treatment solution
In 2018, a group of multi-branch horizontal wells of coalbed methane (CBM) , including 1 vertical well (SJ107-V2 well) and 1 multi-branch horizontal well (SJ107-H2 well) , were implemented by CCTEG Xi’an Research Institute in Sanjiao block of Lin County, Shanxi Province, China. RMRS eccentric communication and geosteering drilling technology are adopted in SJ107-H2 well, which helped precise trajectory control and eccentrical connecting with the target vertical well (SJ107-V2 well).
3. Construction situation
Adopting geosteering drilling technology, one main branch and seven branches are constructed, realizing 4543m footage in coal seam. The coal seam penetration rate reached 95.02%. The maximum vertical ratio is 3.697. 88.9 mm GRP screen pipe is deployed along the main well and up to 989.74m deep.

4. Achieved accomplishment
After drainage and depressurization, daily gas production exceeded 26,000 m3 from April 2015. Well bottom flow pressure was 0.9 MPa, and the cumulative production reached 17.2 million m3 by the end of May 2018. This well group is the first u-shaped well in 15 # coal seam in Qinshui Basin. And it is also the first coalbed gas well with sliding casing fracturing completion technology, and the highest gas production well in 15# coal seam.
